State OF PLAY ATLANTA
State of Play Atlanta, Project Play’s 20th community report, will examine youth sports participation in Metro Atlanta public middle and high schools, with a focus on low-income communities. In 2024-25, the state of Georgia had 211,137 high school sports participants, down slightly from a year earlier but still ahead of pre-pandemic figures.
The report will:
Identify key barriers to inclusive school sports
Assess how schools collect and use participation data
Highlight scalable school–community collaboration models
Provide actionable insights to expand equitable, affordable, and youth-centered sports opportunities
